Research Coordination Department (RCD)

The Research Department is responsible for the research activities of the Division including research agenda setting, design of research protocols; data collection processing and analysis; and report writing. Systematic review of existing literature and presentation of position papers is another core activity of this department. The Department is also responsible for capacity development and strengthening at all levels of the health sector by ensuring that the research training needs of directorates, regions and districts of the GHS are key on the Department’s agenda. The Department currently has three Units – Research Unit, Capacity Building Unit, and Data Management Unit.

Functions

  • Establish a process for priority setting for health research
  • Development of a Health Research Agenda
  • Conduct health research studies as per the National Health Research Agenda
  • Health research capacity building
  • Build capacity among GHS Staff for the conduct of operational research as per the National Research Agenda
  • Support the research needs of regions & districts of the GHS.
